I woke up in a cold sweat, disoriented and gasping for breath. I shivered when I realized I had thrown my covers off in my sleep, letting the winter chills seep into my skin. As I gathered them off the floor, I glanced at my alarm clock. 3 in the morning. Again? The clock had glowed with the same numbers for the past two days, after –
That dream.
The first night of the dream, I'd shaken it off as a nightmare, probably because of the horror movies I'd been watching. The second night kind of freaked me out, but I thought it was me keeping it on  my mind. And the third night.... By then, I knew it was no coincidence. Every time the dream hounded me, it seemed more realistic and scared me even more.
All those thoughts running through my head were set on keeping me awake, so I thought I might as well go do something. I climbed out of bed and headed for my desk, catching sight of my reflection in the mirror on my door as I walked by. I had just reached my desk when I realized something was wrong. I slowly walked back to the mirror, just the least bit nervous.
Three nights of little sleep had turned me into a wreck. I had dark circles under my eyes, my skin looked deathly pale, and my straight hair, black as ink, hung limp. Even my slender figure had started turning into skin and bones. I sighed and started to go back to my bed in hopes of catching up with sleep, but something in the moonlight caught my eye. I stared deeply into my reflection and spotted a hint of silver in both of my eyes. It was ever so faint, but I could still see it. I blinked, thinking it was just an illusion, but the sliver of color was still there. Puzzled, I decided to go back to bed, thinking I'd feel better in the morning.
I had just snuggled under the covers when I heard a clunk coming from the closet. I sat up straight and held my breath. If my cat, Davey, was playing with my belts again, he was dead meat.
I almost climbed out of bed to go check out the closet, but my eyelids started drooping in protest. Besides, these nightmares were making me a little too paranoid. It was probably just something that had fallen out of place.
I shut my eyes tight and tried to think about the Friday afternoon I would be spending with my friends. Before I knew it, I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
I dug this out of my files on the computer and I've been writing like a maniac every day since last week. I got to Chapter 5 alreadyyyyy ^______________^
